Constitution Week Celebrations

Falls Church, Virginia Mayor David Tarter signed the Constitution Week Proclamation at the September city council meeting. Member Lyn Sherlock provided remarks to the City Council and was then invited to accept the Proclamation. Several members attended the presentation.
"Whereas, September 17, 2019, marks the two hundred and thirty-second anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of The United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and Whereas, the U.S. Constitution defined two axioms for our nation: The first for basic human equality and the second for a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness… Whereas, in doing so we recommit ourselves to the enduring principles of the Constitution where “We the People of the United States” establish this Constitution and thereby “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

At our September Meeting, Recording Secretary Sara Madden gave a presentation on the NSDAR’s role in the origin of Constitution Week. Members of the chapter donated copies of The Declaration of Independence, The United States Constitution, and its amendments for attendees to take home.

The Falls Church Chapter NSDAR and Providence Society C.A.R. teamed up on a Constitution display at the Chantilly Regional Library in Chantilly, Virginia.
