Joining the Daughters of the American Revolution
Who is eligible?
Any woman who is 18 years of age or older and can prove her lineal descent from an American Revolutionary War Patriot is eligible for DAR membership.
Your Patriot Ancestor:
Your ancestor is considered to be a Patriot if you can document that he or she showed unfailing loyalty to the cause of American independence by serving as a sailor, soldier, a civil officer in one of the colonies or states as a recognized patriot, or rendered material aid to the fight for independence. See acceptable service.
Proving your lineage:
You will need to provide documentation that proves your lineage back through the generations to your Patriot ancestor. Our chapter has members who will be happy to help you in the process of proving your lineage and membership application.
