Octagon House. It is located at the corner of New York Avenue and 18th Street,
NW, Washington D.C. and is only two blocks from the Daughters of the American Revolution Headquarters.
The Octagon House is owned and preserved by the Architect’s Foundation, and was the first headquarters of the American Institute of Architects. It served as President James Madison’s home after the 1814 burning of Washington and while there, President Madison signed the Treaty of Ghent to end the War of 1812.
